What are the Common Causes of Upper Back and Neck Pain?

Common causes for neck and back pain are often related to poor posture and overuse of specific muscles. The muscles are strained and eventually tear from strenuous activity, such as looking at your phone, having inadequate support while sleeping, or sitting at your desk for hours on end.

Good posture is essential to pain relief. But what is good posture? Many experts say that the ears should align with the shoulders while the shoulders are positioned backward.

When the neck is appropriately positioned, the head is supported naturally on the spine, relieving the pressure and overuse of the cervical muscles.

What is Spinal Fitness?

Spinal fitness is the most important exercise you can do. This is because the spine not only supports your entire body but protects the nervous system as well. This is called the spinal cord, and it connects your brain to the rest of your body.

Doctor Shows Cervical Spine

The cervical spine is the part that supports your neck and head. If the muscles surrounding them are tight or strained, it can cause severe pain in the shoulders, neck, or both. In some cases, it can cause bad headaches and migraines.

Spinal fitness strengthens and stretches these muscles, allowing for better flexibility and mobility.

What Are the Best Spine Straightening Exercises?

There are several effective stretches for your spine. However, today we will focus on the cervical spine. As mentioned before, the cervical spine supports your head, and weak or tight muscles are often the cause of pain in the neck and upper back.

Neck Flexion (Backward)

The Neck Extension exercise strengthens and stretches the muscles in your throat. This exercise is suitable for those whose neck and head naturally lean forward and have hunched over shoulders.

The best way to achieve this exercise is with the Creatrix Neck Shaper. The activity calls for you to bend your neck backward by stretching the neck by looking up, then bring your head back with a quick motion while keeping your shoulders back.

Neck Flexion (Forward)

The Neck Flexion exercise stretches the cervical muscles in the back and neck.

You can do this exercise with just your head by looking down until your chin touches your chest while in an upward position. Or you can choose to assist with your hands, stretching the back and neck muscles a little farther. Hold the stretch for about 30 seconds to allow the muscles to stretch correctly.

Lateral Neck Flexion

To perform the Lateral Neck Flexion, bend your head from side to side by keeping your shoulders back and chest open. You need to be in an upright position and bring your ear to your shoulder, alternating between the right and left sides.

This exercise can be done sitting down as well. However, for a better stretch, grab the underside of your seat with the opposite hand. For example, if you are bending to the right, grab the chair with your left hand. Once this is done, you can use your right hand to bring the head closer to your shoulder.

If done right, you should feel the muscles in the side of your neck stretch nicely.

Neck Rotation

This one is simple. Keep your shoulders back and turn your head from left to right as far as you can go. You should feel the muscles in the back of your neck stretch and strengthen.

How To Use a Creatrix Neck Shaper

The Creatrix Neck Shaper is a great back pain solution to strengthen the muscles around your cervical spine. It is the first step in relieving back pain with spinal fitness equipment.

The Neck Shaper is inspired by Dr. John Scherger, D.C., who explained that the ideal spine is based on a mathematical concept. The Creatrix Neck Shaper is therefore built to achieve the mathematical curvature for strengthening and stretching tight muscles.

Athlete Using Neck Shaper

To use the Creatrix Neck Shaper, stand in a relaxed position with your feet parallel to your hips. Then, gently stretch your neck upward and place the Neck Shaper on your face. You can do this with or without the bar, bands, or weights.

Next, apply gentle force and use your neck muscles to work against the pressure. Drop your chin to the natural level position as if you are slowly nodding. Keep your chin level and relax your muscles in the neck. Gently push the Neck Shaper straight back. And that is it! Repeat the exercise for optimal results.

Why the Neck Shaper Works

The ideal shape for your spine is an S-shape. The S-shape allows for your spine to take mechanical advantage of gravity. However, if your spine is straight and does not have the proper curvature, it can take up to 18 years for your spine to obtain the ideal shape,. Thankfully, we are here to help.

The Creatrix Neck Shaper trains your muscles to align your head with your shoulders. By using your muscles to fight against the resistance of your force, you strengthen them in the correct position.

In a world where we are often interacting with screens, whether our phone or on our desk, we are usually in the worst position possible. Therefore, we must strengthen the muscles that we have allowed to tighten and weaken by misusing them.
