The Tri-Oxy® FRESH generates 800 mg/hr of ozone (O3) to sterilize water and freshen the air. This manual covers setup, the remote timer, ozonating water with the diffuser, everyday home uses, and the safety precautions to follow.

About ozone
What ozone (O3) is
Ozone has the scientific name O3, formed by combining three oxygen atoms, with a molecular weight of 48.00 and a density more than 1.658 times that of air. It has a high oxidizing ability that is effective for disinfecting and sterilizing, and it can destroy most bacteria in water or in the air. It is widely accepted as a broad-spectrum, effective disinfectant and antiseptic.
Ozone is a natural component of our atmosphere, which contains roughly 0.01–0.04 ppm and is also created electrically during thunderstorms. The ozone molecule is inherently unstable and breaks down into ordinary oxygen as quickly as possible — and that is exactly what makes it such an effective air and water cleanser. As it breaks down, ozone oxidizes organic compounds into harmless carbon dioxide and water. Because it quickly reverts to oxygen, ozone is considerably less toxic than disinfectant chemicals such as chlorine, and it has been called "the cleanest oxidizer and disinfectant."

Kills microbes
- Kills staphylococcus, coli bacillus, and bacillus pyocyaneus up to 99.9%.
- Kills Pseudomonas fluorescens, Salmonella typhimurium, Shigella flexneri, and Vibrio cholerae up to 100%.
- Destroys hay bacillus variant spores up to 100%.
Inhibits fungi
- Destroys mixed-color aspergillus, peach penicillium, and protozoa up to 100%.
- Destroys black, green, and orange mold and falciform spore mold up to 100%.
Resists viruses
- Damages Hepatitis A virus (HAAg) and HBsAg.
- Destroys influenza virus and SARS in the air up to 97.2%.
- In water, inactivates poliomyelitis virus 1 (PV1), simian rotavirus SA-11, and rotavirus II.
Removes toxins and odors
- Disintegrates pesticides, chemical fertilizer, and hormones.
- Oxidizes heavy metals and organic substances.
- Removes a wide range of odors.

Safety instructions
Ozone gas should never be inhaled
When the unit is used in a non-ventilated room to sterilize the air, enter the room only after the unit has stopped working — about 30 minutes later — to avoid inhaling ozone gas. For water use, always run the ozone through a degasser such as the Tri-Oxy® REFRESH to eliminate the risk of inhaling ozone.
- Disconnect the power before cleaning or repairing the unit.
- When sterilizing water, place the unit above the water surface so water cannot flow back into the machine.
- Do not use in a high-temperature environment (above 42°C) or in places with high humidity or high oil content; this reduces effectiveness and shortens the life of the product.
- Do not drop, throw, or otherwise impact the unit, and do not block the air outlet, as this affects air ventilation.
How it works
How ozone kills bacteria and oxidizes contaminants
Disinfection
O3 releases its third oxygen atom to destroy the cell wall of bacteria, the cell membrane, and the protein shell of viruses, then directly breaks down their RNA and DNA by oxidation. For example, formaldehyde (HCHO) combined with O3 generates CO2, H2O, and O2.
Oxidation
One oxygen atom of the O3 molecule reacts with the surface of metals or organic material to generate other, harmless substances.
Know your unit
Product layout
Placement: Mount the machine higher than the water level so water cannot flow back into it. To remove odors from the air, run the unit without the tube and diffuser air stone. Do not stay in an airtight room while purifying the air, and for water use, run the output through the Tri-Oxy® FRESH degassing jar (sold separately) to eliminate the risk of inhaling ozone.

Operation
Operating instructions

Power on
Connect to power and turn on the power switch. When the power indicator light is on, check all the automatic functions.

Set the timer
Press the UP / DOWN button to select a preset run time of 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, or 60 minutes.

Ozonate water
Connect one end of the air tube to the ozone outlet and the other end to the diffuser ball, then place the diffuser ball at the bottom of the container of liquid.
After ozonating: Pour out the liquid, then run ozone gas through the diffuser ball and dry it off. Always blow out and dry the diffuser ball so minerals do not clog its pores — that keeps it working the next time you need it.

About the technology
Product characteristics
This ozone disinfector uses advanced, patented technology to generate O3 on the principle of a thunderstorm: it draws in ambient air and applies high voltage to ionize it, forming a corona that produces ozone.
Precautions — warning
- Do not use the equipment in the presence of strong static electricity or a strong magnetic field.
- The product must not come into direct contact with water or other liquids.
- Because ozone is strongly oxidizing, do not wash rubber products, hardware, or plastics for too long.
- When the unit is used for ozone air cleaning, keep people and animals out of the space to prevent lung damage.
- Not recommended for use by children under the age of 10.
- Do not tamper with the equipment or attempt to open or dismantle it.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
How long should I ozonate water?
Use the preset timer (5–60 minutes) and match the run time to the application in the Home Applications table above. Always run water use through a degasser and follow the safety precautions.
Do I need to degas the ozone?
Yes. For water use, run the output through a degasser such as the Tri-Oxy® REFRESH so ozone gas is destructed rather than released into the room. See the Tri-Oxy REFRESH manual.
Can I run it to purify the air?
Yes, but keep people and pets out of the room while it runs, and re-enter about 30 minutes after it stops so any remaining ozone has reverted to oxygen.
Why must the machine sit above the water line?
Placing the unit above the water surface prevents water from flowing back into the machine through the air tube, which could damage it.
How do I care for the diffuser ball?
After each use, blow ozone gas through the diffuser and dry it so minerals do not clog the pores. A clean, dry diffuser works reliably the next time.
