About the Balm: Tallow Balm can stay fresh under refrigeration for years. If kept at room temperature, the balm will develop a stronger odor after approximately six months, but it is still usable. The balm can also turn grainy after a few months, or if it softens due to warm temperatures. This can be remedied by melting the balm in the oven at 120-150°F (49-56°C), and letting it solidify inside the refrigerator for a smooth texture.
Tallow Balm consistency may vary. It is a natural product, therefore each batch comes with its own unique characteristics. Some batches will be softer, while others will be firmer.
Info about beef tallow: Natural fat-soluble vitamins A, D, and K, in addition to vitamin E, are found inside tallow. These all play an essential role in skin health, as well as health in general. Tallow is also full of fats, such as conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which boasts anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties. Palmitoleic acid, which has natural antimicrobial properties, is also contained in tallow.
