What ozone actually is, and why the mechanism matters

Ordinary oxygen travels as O2. Ozone is O3 — the same element carrying a third atom that is only loosely attached, and that instability is the whole mechanism. When ozonated water meets an organic surface, the spare atom is handed off in an oxidation reaction, and what remains is plain oxygen dissolved in plain water.

Two consequences follow. Ozone works where it makes contact: it is a surface and solution tool. And it does not persist — the third atom leaves whether or not it found something to react with. That pairing is why municipal plants and food handlers have used ozone for over a century, and why its reach stops at the skin of things. Does ozonated water remove heavy metals?

No — and the reason is worth spelling out, because the same explanation points straight at what genuinely does the work.

Lead, cadmium, mercury, aluminium and excess copper do not sit loose in the digestive tract waiting to be oxidised on the way past. The hair mineral analysis literature describes them as bound into tissue, tightly and for a long time. Lead behaves like calcium and fixes into bone. Cadmium carries a biological half-life of seventeen to thirty years. Aluminium tracks bone and can take several successive tests to show up at all. Mercury is described bluntly: sequestered mercury remains in storage for years. Copper is stored in the liver and brain, with the normal exit route being the bile.

Now set a glass of ozonated water beside that. It travels the digestive tract, gives up its extra atom to whatever it contacts, and is ordinary oxygenated water within minutes. It never enters the compartment where those metals are held.

What the same literature describes as moving them is slower and far less glamorous. Available biochemical energy has to rise first, so the body can afford the work. In that same literature, chelating substances such as vitamin C and sulphur-bearing amino acids are described as binding a metal once it is loose, and antagonist minerals as displacing it from the tissue they occupy. That is a description of a nutritional model, and what any of it means for one person belongs with their qualified healthcare provider. And the eliminative organs — liver and bile, kidneys, bowel, skin — are supported so that whatever is mobilised actually leaves.
