Lumbar Support That Trains Your Core — Without Flattening Your Low Back
Many floor exercises, especially sit-ups, begin by flattening the lumbar curve — training your body to lose the very structure that protects it. The Power Cushion supports the low-back curve while you strengthen the core, so you build strength in the posture you actually want to keep.
Spinal Fitness Equipment • Coming Soon
A posture-training fulcrum designed to support the natural lumbar curve during pelvic tilts and supported sit-ups. The Power Cushion changes the starting geometry of these exercises so the abdominal wall, pelvis, multifidus, and spinal stabilizers can work without intentionally pressing the low back flat.

The posture problem
Many Floor Exercises Begin by Flattening the Low Back
A flat floor does not match the natural lumbar curve. During conventional sit-ups and many abdominal exercises, people are often instructed to press the low back into the floor.
That strategy may help control motion temporarily, but it also trains a flattened spinal position. The Power Cushion is designed to support the lumbar curve so the exercise can be performed around a defined fulcrum rather than against a flat surface.
The product purpose
Support the Curve First—Then Strengthen Around It
The Power Cushion establishes posterior support beneath the lumbar region. Once the curve is supported, the user can train controlled trunk and pelvic movement without deliberately removing that curve.
This follows the central Spinal Fitness principle: improve the position first, then strengthen the muscles that maintain it.
How the Power Cushion changes the exercise
A Fulcrum Changes Leverage, Force Direction and Muscle Demand
In a lever system, the location of the pivot affects how resistance acts on the body. Placing a fulcrum beneath the lumbar curve changes where the trunk rotates and reduces the unsupported distance between the pelvis and upper body.
The cushion does not remove force from the spine. It is designed to improve how that force is distributed by supporting the lumbar curve while the abdominal wall and stabilizing muscles control the movement.
Defined Pivot Point
The cushion creates a controlled fulcrum beneath the lumbar region instead of allowing the trunk to collapse against a flat floor.
Shorter Unsupported Lever
Posterior support reduces the unsupported distance through which the trunk or legs act on the lumbar spine.
Supported Force Transfer
The lumbar curve remains supported while the abdominal wall, pelvis, and deeper spinal stabilizers work.
Compression and posterior shear
Why Lumbar Shape Matters Under Load
A coordinated lumbar curve helps the vertebral bodies, discs, facet joints, ligaments, fascia, and muscles share force.
When the low back flattens under resistance, force may shift across the spinal segments, increasing the demand on the multifidus, interspinales, erector spinae, abdominal wall, ligaments, and connective tissues.
The Power Cushion is designed to help preserve the supported curve and reduce the tendency to train repeated flattening or unnecessary posterior shear.
Primary Power Cushion exercises
Train the Trunk and Pelvis From a Supported Lumbar Position
Supported Sit-Ups
Train the abdominal wall while the trunk moves around a lumbar fulcrum instead of beginning with the spine pressed flat.
Pelvic Tilts
Practice short, controlled pelvic motion while the lower lumbar region remains supported.
Chest Resistance Progression
After the supported sit-up is mastered, the planned Chest Force Applicator can add controlled resistance over the upper trunk.
Hip Resistance Progression
After the pelvic tilt is mastered, the planned Hip Force Applicator can add controlled resistance over the pelvis.
Breathing and Rib Control
Use slow breathing while maintaining the lumbar curve and avoiding rib flare or rigid back-muscle bracing.
Posture Endurance
Use low-repetition, controlled practice to improve the ability to maintain the lumbar curve under increasing demand.
Supported sit-up training
Build Abdominal Strength Without Starting From a Flattened Spine
During a conventional sit-up, the low back often rounds against the floor before the trunk rises. With the Power Cushion, the trunk begins over a supported lumbar curve.
The abdominal wall then controls motion around the fulcrum. Begin with a limited range and stop when the curve, breathing, or movement quality can no longer be maintained.
Pelvic tilt training
Train Pelvic Control Around a Supported Lumbar Segment
The pelvic tilt is intentionally small. It is designed to improve control of the pelvis, abdominal wall, multifidus, and lower spinal segments—not to create a large rocking motion.
Resistance can be added only after the body-weight pattern is learned and controlled.
Chest and Hip Force Applicator compatibility
Posterior Support Paired With Targeted Anterior Resistance
The planned Chest and Hip Force Applicators are designed to add controlled resistance over the chest or hip region while the Power Cushion supports the lumbar curve from behind.
The chest applicator is intended for supported trunk and sit-up training. The hip applicator is intended for pelvic-tilt and lower-trunk resistance. Final compatibility and commercial configurations will be confirmed before release.

How the Power Cushion fits into Spinal Fitness
A Core Tool in the Five-Step S-Shaped Spine System
Step 1: Supported Sit-Up
The Power Cushion supports the lumbar curve while the abdominal wall controls the trunk.
Step 3: Pelvic Tilt
The cushion supports the lower lumbar region while the pelvis and deep stabilizers train controlled motion.
Progressive Resistance
The planned Chest and Hip Force Applicators can add controlled anterior resistance after the basic sit-up and pelvic-tilt patterns are mastered.
Planned progression
Begin With Comfort, Control and the Least Aggressive Support
The commercial product may be offered in more than one density or configuration. Final options have not yet been announced.
In general, a more forgiving support is appropriate for learning the movement and building tolerance. A firmer support is more appropriate only after the user can maintain breathing, alignment, and control.
Printed Exercise Guide Will Be Included With the Equipment Shipment
When the Power Cushion becomes available for purchase, a printed copy of the applicable exercise guide will be included in the shipment. Digital guides will remain available separately for customers who want immediate access, already own compatible equipment, or need a replacement copy.
Safe progression
Learn the Position Before Adding Range or Resistance
- Position the cushion: Place it beneath the lumbar curve, not under the sacrum, tailbone, or lower ribs.
- Practice breathing: Maintain relaxed rib-cage breathing without rigid bracing.
- Begin with a short range: Use only the motion that can be controlled without losing the supported curve.
- Keep repetitions low: Stop before fatigue causes compensation.
- Add resistance last: Increase load only after the movement remains controlled and comfortable.
